What is Group Spiritual Direction?
Find Rest. Be Heard. Discover the Sacred in Your Story.
Group Spiritual Direction is a gentle, contemplative space where people come together to explore their spiritual lives — whether you come with faith, curiosity, questions, or uncertainty. You are welcome just as you are.
In this community spiritual group, we:
- Listen deeply to one another
- Hold silence as discerning prayer
- Notice where love, hope, and healing are present
- Support one another in seeing the sacred in our life stories
Many people who join say they feel seen, heard, and cared for in a way they didn’t expect. Silence becomes rich and peaceful. Trust grows. We discover we are not alone. You don’t need to know anything about spiritual direction or meditation — just come with openness.

Who is Leading Group Spiritual Direction?
Marnie Jones is the author of Holy Toledo: Religion and Politics in the Life of “Golden Rule” Jones, and Opening to Wonder: A Memoir of Heart, Mind, and Courage. An award-winning professor at The University of North Florida, her teaching philosophy was rooted in helping students become better humans who might improve the world. She offered students a radical respect, inviting them to share responsibility for their education. Currently, she brings that same spirit of presence and formation to her work as a spiritual director and to therapy-dog ministry at WakeMed Hospital with her dog, Zoe. She is a graduate of The Art of Spiritual Direction, from Stillpoint, at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico.
Group Spiritual Direction will meet on the 3rd Monday of the month beginning in August in the Meditation Room.
If you’re interested in joining the group contact Marnie Jones at mjones@unf.edu or 904-303-1281.
