Black History Month At Unity
Every Sunday in February, Unity Women of Color are collaborating with The Unity Choir to present the historical significance of Black Music in America. Expect to be moved out of your seats!
Week Four: Music as Activism – 1960s-1970s
By the 1960s and ’70s, Black Music had become the soundtrack of the revolution. Artists like Sam Cooke, Nina Simone, James Brown, and Marvin Gaye used their platforms to directly address the Civil Rights Movement and social injustice.
