As we approach the milestone birthday of America, we explore what it really means to be united. Since the signing of the Declaration of Independence our country has held these ideals that all people are created equal and that we have the right to pursue life, liberty and happiness.
Over 1/4 of a Millennium of effort at achieving these states of happiness and equality in a context of liberty and justice, the United States has made many strides forward and some steps backwards. In our generation, in 2026, we still pursue these ideals. And though the country may be mixed in its approach, these ideals, at least for ourselves, remain fixed and strong. This Sunday, Rev. Neusom adds the spiritual component of mental and emotional awakening to bring richness and depth to what has sometimes seemed like a superficial set of goals. Please come with us on this winding road our country started a long time ago! If you’re inclined, we invite you to wear red, white and/or blue!
