DESCRIPTION:WELCOME TO THE SUNDAY EXPERIENCE AT UNITY OF THE TRIANGLE!\nIt’s the spiritual highlight of the week. Each Sunday we come together around a topic that impacts your every day life\, inspiring music\, affirmative prayer\, and a short meditation.\nSunday Feb 8\, 2026\nTopic: “Despair is a Failure of Imagination”\nWith Rev. Expect to be moved out of your seats! \nWeek Two \n The Foundation: Spirituals and Work Songs \nThe earliest forms of Black music in the U.S. were Spirituals\, which emerged in the 18th century. As enslaved people struggled through life on plantations\, they continued their traditional use of music and instruments. While they were often prohibited from having drums\, they used their own bodies to create rhythm which involved rhythmic clapping\, chest-slapping\, and foot-stomping.  Be prepared for the soulful singing and strong rhythmic accompaniment from the Unity Choir as we celebrate the origins of Gospel music\, which remains a cornerstone of the Black church today. \n\nOur 2026 theme is: In a World Divided\, Choose Unity!\nWith many special events\, topics\, and unique Sundays planned. We’d love welcome you! \n

Together\, we will ask and discuss are we willing to: \n\nforgive others\, release fear and open our hearts to receive the miracles that are meant for us?\nshift our perspective from fear to love to widen our world and let love lead?\nlive in the present moment to be the person we are capable of being?\n\n\nWhat is Sisterhood Saturday?\nSisterhood Saturday is an interactive women’s ministry led by Unity’s Interfaith minister Rev. Tami Johns. With a spiritual message\, music\, prayer\, reflection\, and meaningful dialogue\, we invite women of all ages to a sacred space of connection\, spiritual growth and renewal. \nCarrying on The Tradition\nFor generations\, women have gathered with their grandmothers\, aunts\, sisters\, and friends to navigate life’s joys and seasons together. Let’s carry on that tradition! Come as you are. Bring the women in your life—or come to find your new circle of sisterhood. \nIf you’d like to offer feedback or submit a testimonial of your Sisterhood Saturday experience to help spread the word about this ministry\, please email Tami.johns@unitytriangle.org. Expect to be moved out of your seats! \nWeek One: From Bondage to Resistance: The Evolution of African American Music \nAfrican American music is not merely a collection of genres; it is a historical record of resilience and survival beginning with the trauma of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. When enslaved Africans were forcibly brought to the Americas\, they were stripped of their possessions but carried their musical traditions\, rhythms\, and communal singing practices. These roots eventually blossomed into the foundational genres of American music\, serving as both a source of spiritual solace and a tool for political resistance. Both field songs and spirituals used rich imagery and emotional intensity to impart themes of joy\, suffering\, and longing\, often employing double meanings and subtle metaphors as a means of “signifying” the Africans’ true desires and poking fun at their white masters. Don’t miss this special presentation! \n\nOur 2026 theme is: In a World Divided\, Choose Unity!\nWith many special events\, topics\, and unique Sundays planned. We’d love welcome you! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Sisterhood Saturday | With Rev. Tami Johns
DESCRIPTION:On the first Saturday of each month\, we invite women of all ages to explore your spirituality\, express your authentic self\, and feel the power of being truly seen. Sisterhood Saturday is circle of women holds space for one another. We recommend bringing a journal to capture insights\, inspiration\, and moments of self-discovery. As we begin setting our intentions for 2026\, January is the perfect time to consider what is mine to do. \nSisterhood Saturday\n“What Is Mine To Do?”\nJan 3\, 2025\n10:00am -11:30am\nFellowship Hall\n📍5570 Munford Road\, Raleigh\, NC 27612 \nYou are a unique expression of God. You carry gifts that no one else can offer. Your purpose is to let that divine life show through real\, concrete actions. When you move from head to heart and sit with the question “what is mine to do\,” you align with the highest good for yourself\, for others\, and for the world. You begin to live more authentically\, guided by Spirit instead of constant activity. This question starts quietly. In that stillness\, guidance does not feel like effort. It feels like a calm\, steady nudge. You listen deeply and let important reflection questions rise in your heart. This spiritual discernment process focuses on:\n\n\nWhat:  that which keeps us out of the why and how \n\n\nIs Mine: that which keeps us in personal responsibility and accountability \n\n\nTo do: that which keeps us in action to live out our authentic purpose \n\n\nYour task is to listen deeply and say yes to the divine idea knocking at the door of your awareness. Join other sisters as we explore this spiritual discernment process. \nWhat is Sisterhood Saturday?\nSisterhood Saturday is an interactive women’s ministry led by Unity’s Interfaith minister Rev. If you’ve participated in Sisterhood Saturday and had an experience you’d like to share\, please consider leaving a google review!

Neusom Holmes\, The Unity Choir\, Youth Blessing\nSo many of us long for clarity\, peace\, and answers—yet we often overlook the hidden barriers within our own minds that keep insight just out of reach. SUMMARY:The Sunday Experience | "The Field Between Right & Wrong" with Rev. Neusom & The Unity Band
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Nov 16 @ 11am\nBook Study Week 3\n“The Field Between Right & Wrong”\nWith Rev. Neusom Holmes & The Unity Band\nThe Sunday Experience is the spiritual highlight of the week! This is week three of a four-part series based on the book\, Don’t Believe Everything You Think. The main teaching of this book reminds us that we can separate pain from suffering. \nIn Don’t Believe Everything You Think\, Joseph Nguyen echoes Rumi’s idea of “the field beyond right and wrong” as the space where the mind’s judgments fall away and pure awareness remains. It’s the place within us that exists before thought — where peace\, love\, and connection are not earned or argued for\, but naturally present. When we stop dividing experiences into good or bad\, right or wrong\, we reconnect with that deeper consciousness that sees all as part of one flow. In this field\, we don’t have to win or defend — we simply are\, resting in the truth beneath all opinions and beliefs. \n*Note: You do not have to be reading the book to get value from the Sunday talk during the book study weeks\, but we think you’ll really enjoy the book!  \nRead more about the book study and how to participate in a weekly book study group led by Rev. SUMMARY:The Sunday Experience | "How To Stop Overthinking" with Rev. Neusom & The Unity Band
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Nov 9 @ 11am\nBook Study Week 2\n“How To Stop The Freight Train of Thought”\nWith Rev. Neusom Holmes & The Unity Band\nThe Sunday Experience is the spiritual highlight of the week! This is week two of a four-part series based on the book\, “Don’t Believe Everything You Think.” The main teaching of this book reminds us that we can separate pain from suffering. \nIn the book Don’t Believe Everything You Think\, Joseph Nguyen describes the “freight train of thought” as the runaway stream of overthinking that pulls us into anxiety and self-doubt. To stop it\, we must first notice when we’re caught in the momentum of our mind instead of being present in the moment. Nguyen teaches that peace isn’t found by controlling or resisting thoughts\, but by observing them without attachment. When we stop fueling the train with belief and attention\, it naturally slows down—revealing the stillness and clarity that were there all along. \n*Note: You do not have to be reading the book to get value from the Sunday talk during the book study weeks\, but we think you’ll really enjoy the book!  \nPre-service meditation at 10:30. \nPower of Eight Prayer Group 12:30 — all are welcome. \nFood\, Conversation and Fellowship after service! \nYou can watch the online 11am Sunday service here or on Facebook or Youtube. \n➡️ Read more about the book study and how to participate in a weekly group led by Rev. Michael Gadway.\nVisit The Higher Shelf Bookstore & Gift Shop to get your copy of the book. Open Sunday 10:30am – 1:00pm in the lobby of Unity of the Triangle at 5570 Munford Road\, Raleigh.

SUMMARY:Sisterhood Saturday | With Rev. Tami Johns & Guest Speaker
DESCRIPTION:Interactive Women’s Ministry\nSisterhood Saturday with special guest speaker: Joset Wright-Lacy\nNovember 1\, 2025\n10:00-11:30am \nSanctuary \nUnity’s own Joset Wright-Lacy will lead a conversation about The Feminine Mystique based on the blockbuster book written by Betty Friedan in 1963. That book pushed the boundaries of telling women what they could be if they could live beyond the expectations of society. In an era when self-reflection by women was considered selfish\, the Feminine Mystique encouraged women to explore their options and opportunities. \nWe’ve come a long way! But many women are still trying to figure out the myriad choices available. On Saturday\, we’ll explore how to unlock the key to finding your authentic self. When we discover our true self\, we understand what guides\, what energizes us and what frees us. The benefits of living from a place of self-knowledge are well worth the “dig” into self. And when we do that\, we can really shine. \nWhat is Sisterhood Saturday?\nAn interactive women’s ministry led by Unity’s Interfaith minister Rev. Tami Johns. With a spiritual message\, music\, prayer\, reflection\, and meaningful dialogue\, we invite women of all ages to a sacred space of connection\, spiritual growth\, renewal\, love\, and personal transformation. \nMake First Saturday of the Month A Sisterhood Saturday!  \nOn the first Saturday of each month\, we invite women of all ages to explore your spirituality\, express your authentic self\, and feel the power of being truly seen. This circle of women holds space for one another. We recommend bringing a journal to capture insights\, inspiration\, and moments of self-discovery.

SUMMARY:The Sunday Experience: The Deeper Meaning and Purpose in Life | Rev. Michael Gadway
DESCRIPTION:Special Sunday Experience with Rev. Michael Gadway\nDharma: The Deeper Meaning and Purpose in Life\nIn Person and Online \nSunday\, Sept. 28 @ 11:00am \nWhat is Dharma?\nDharma is more than just “duty” or “rules.” In many spiritual traditions\, it means living in harmony with the deeper truth of who you are and why you’re here. It’s the path that naturally unfolds when your actions\, gifts\, and values line up with love\, wisdom\, and service. Dharma isn’t something imposed from outside; it’s discovered through listening within\, noticing what brings peace and meaning\, and following the call to contribute to the greater good. When you live your dharma\, life feels purposeful\, relationships deepen\, and even challenges become part of your growth into a fuller\, freer expression of Spirit. \nYou can watch the online 11am Sunday service here or on Facebook or Youtube. \n
