She completed her nursing training while doing private duty with people over 70. In 2013\, she became a hearing officer at DHHS in the medical assistance field. Her career has included providing home health services\, handling financial and medical estates\, assisting in end-of-life choices\, helping navigate health care to age-in-place with support services in order to maintain independence and safety. Alison is a member of Unity of the Triangle. \nWhat is Geriatric Nursing?\nGeriatric nursing is a specialized field focused on improving the health\, quality of life\, and independence of older adults\, typically people aged 65 and older. These nurses\, often called gerontological nurses\, address complex physical\, mental\, and emotional needs\, managing chronic conditions like dementia\, diabetes\, and heart disease. They work in settings such as hospitals\, homes\, and nursing homes to support aging in place. \nA Welcoming Senior Wellness Experience at Unity of the Triangle\nUnity of the Triangle is proud to offer senior wellness programs in Raleigh that support aging well\, independence\, and lifelong learning. The Aging with Wisdom series creates a welcoming space for older adults seeking connection\, clarity\, and confidence. \nThe series is presented by Silver Circle\, a Unity of the Triangle small group that embraces aging with vitality\, vigor\, curiosity\, and learning. They regularly meet on the second Tuesdays of the month in the multi-purpose room at the church. All are welcome.
