Volunteer
Volunteer service is part of our mission at Unity and the heartbeat of our spiritual community. Regardless of your gifts or commitment level, we welcome your smiling face, joyful voice, and helping hands.
Hello! As part of the Welcome Team you’ll be the shining face of Unity, greeting members and guests on Sundays and at special services, directing visitors through the building, and answering questions about Unity. For more information, contact Barbara Weinberg.
Love enters through the kitchen. As part of the Hospitality Team you’ll prepare, set out, and clear refreshments on Sundays after services. The members of this team enjoy a close camaraderie as they provide a warm and nourishing atmosphere through the coffee, tea, and snacks that fuel conversation in the Fellowship Hall. To join, contact Brenda Mullins.
All hands on deck! If you’re handy around the house or a professional at construction or building maintenance, your knowledge and skills can be put to good use. On the Facility Team, you can help with everything from moving furniture to basic repairs like patching and painting, or larger scale maintenance and landscaping. All experience levels are welcome. For more information contact Hank Wall.
Unity’s “Higher Shelf” bookstore offers books, music, cards, handmade jewelry, art, and craft items by congregants and visiting authors, musicians, and artists. The bookstore also hosts meet-the-author events. Team members help keep track of inventory and sales on Sundays and help plan and organize events. To join, contact Barbara Holleman, Linda Rosen & Phran Gacher.
Unity has long been a haven for artists and other creatives. Every year, our Art & Exhibition team organizes four exhibits in the Fellowship Hall Gallery, including two group shows open to congregants. Each exhibit opens with a public reception. Artists may sell their work subject to a small (10%) love offering. These exhibits beautify our building, showcase local talent, and bring new people to Unity. If you’re an artist interested in helping jury these exhibits, or if you’re available to help hang work, contact Judy Crane or Karen Thorsen.
Did someone say party? As part of Unity’s Social Team you’ll throw parties and plan events for people who love to be together, let their hair down, dance, and enjoy live music. The group has hosted a range of themed parties and holiday get-togethers. You’ll enjoy planning new events that bring the community together, creating and hanging decorations, coordinating set-up and breakdown, and of course, enjoying the festivities with friends. To join the party, email info@unitytriangle.org
We get by with a little help from our Friends in Deed. This team provides transportation to and from medical appointments, meals, light errands, and other help to congregants in times of need. No training is necessary and you may participate as much or as little as your schedule allows. To get involved, contact Madeleine Leeds. Click here to request meals, transportation, or errands.
We reach beyond our sanctuary walls to engage with our local, national, and global community through a host of service and fundraising projects. For information about our efforts, and to get involved, click here. To suggest an outreach project, contact Karen Thorsen.
The Extended Care team is a group of former prayer chaplains who have been specially trained to provide emotional support through prayer and compassionate listening to Unity congregants and their families in times of critical need. If you have a need, please contact Rev. Meemie Lohmueller or (919) 832-8324 Ext 110.
This group meets monthly to connect through prayer and meditation. As a participant, you commit to a private daily practice as well as a weekly 15-minute guided meditation to assist with your practice. Recruiting occurs twice a year in March and September. Volunteers attend a Sacred Prayer Circle Training to prepare them for holding sacred space in their private prayer practice. Check the calendar for upcoming workshop dates, or contact Rev. Meemie Lohmueller or (919) 832-8324 Ext 110.
In this year-long commitment, prayer chaplains hold sacred space for Unity of the Triangle congregants by praying one-on-one during Sunday services and in their daily practice. This is one of the most powerful and personal ways Unity of the Triangle serves the spiritual needs of its members. The program is a service opportunity for those looking to make a serious commitment to spiritual growth. If you are feeling called to serve others through prayer, the Prayer Chaplain Program may be the next step in your spiritual transformation. To learn more, contact Rev. Meemie Lohmueller or (919) 832-8324 Ext 110.
Keep yourself young at heart by taking part as a teacher or assistant in our vibrant Youth & Family Ministry. You’ll provide support during classes, trips, fundraisers, and special events involving Unity youth. To learn more, contact B.J. Davis.
