“How To Stop The Freight Train of Thought”

The Sunday Experience is the spiritual highlight of the week! This is week two of a four-part series based on the book, “Don’t Believe Everything You Think.” The main teaching of this book reminds us that we can separate pain from suffering.
In the book Don’t Believe Everything You Think, Joseph Nguyen describes the “freight train of thought” as the runaway stream of overthinking that pulls us into anxiety and self-doubt. To stop it, we must first notice when we’re caught in the momentum of our mind instead of being present in the moment. Nguyen teaches that peace isn’t found by controlling or resisting thoughts, but by observing them without attachment. When we stop fueling the train with belief and attention, it naturally slows down—revealing the stillness and clarity that were there all along.
*Note: You do not have to be reading the book to get value from the Sunday talk during the book study weeks, but we think you’ll really enjoy the book!
